Woodland Creatures Greyhound Coat and Plain Greyhound Raincoats

Woodland Creatures Greyhound CoatA few weeks ago, Callie and Sara (two of our greyhounds) had a serious accident while chasing a squirrel at high speed. Fortunately, Sara was not badly hurt but Callie was seriously injured and had to spend some time as an inpatient in Intensive Care over at Langfords Veterinary Hospital in Bristol. She suffered spinal injuries and since she returned home, has required pretty near constant supervision as she has slowly regained the use of her legs.

I'm delighted to say she is recovering beautifully, thanks to the wonderful care she's had both at Langfords Bristol and at our own vet practice (the Cardiff branch of Langfords). As you'll know if you've nursed a sick dog, this has been a very time consuming and worrying time, and of course we've had to maintain care for our other three hounds as well. Happily, Callie's recovery is nothing short of amazing, and she is now walking, running and even jumping on and off the sofa.

She has recovered so well that she will be joining us at our next show – why not come along and say hello to her and Sara? We're really looking forward to it – one of our favourite events of the year. Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue will be holding their Christmas Coffee Morning and Gift Fayre on Sunday 22nd November, between 10am and 1pm, at Rodborough Village Hall, Stroud, Glos. The postcode is GL5 3TZ. We'll be having a stall, with our usual selection of fleece coats, dog beds, raincoats, bandanas and hi viz coats – perfect if you're shopping for a hound. There will also be a lovely range of other stalls with lots of nice gifts, including EGLR Christmas cards and calendars. As well as raising money for a great rescue, this event is always a lovely curtain raiser for Christmas – it's small and really friendly and you can bring dogs into the village hall. I can also highly recommend the lemon drizzle cake made by Laura's mum – it's the finest I've ever tasted and she will also be bringing a range of her other delicious home made cakes. As always with our shows, we'll have our card machine with us, and of course you can also pay by PayPal if you have the app on your smartphone. Sara will be modelling our new Elf Fleece Coat which is proving very popular.

We have also introduced a new fleece to our range – the Woodland Creatures fleece coat is a lovely warm caramel colour with a quirky collection of hedgehogs, owls and foxes along with mushrooms and leaves. You can either have the whole coat made from this fabric, or as we've shown above, it's also available with dark chocolate neck, girth and binding – a gorgeous combination for fawns and brindle hounds.

One of the questions we regularly get asked is if we can make a plain raincoat for the boys – apparently some of our patterns are just a bit too eye-catching! We've now located a good source of plain, lightweight ripstop in a range of ten colours (including black, royal, red, emerald green, sky blue, lime green, jade, cerise, purple and violet) and can offer a plain coloured raincoat. As usual, we are always happy to supply swatches if you are wanting to match the raincoat with something specific like a collar. For these raincoats, we'll be making to order rather than stocking the whole range initially, so please bear this in mind when you're ordering, if you need something for a particular date.

And finally – if you want a free tape measure to help with measuring your hound, just ask, and we'll post one out to you. And don't forget that we can always gift wrap any item ordered from us, free of charge. This applies all year round, not just at Christmas.
