Union Jack Greyhound Fleece Coat

Union Jack Greyhound Fleece CoatI’ve got lots of news. Firstly, the all-new Great British Greyhound Walk website has been launched and is now live. I strongly recommend a visit – you can find your nearest walk and get all the latest updates. We’re delighted to be one of this year’s official sponsors and if you’ve ordered a coat recently, you will probably have noticed that the Save The Date cards have been included with the parcels. As we did last year, we are making an Official Coat for the Ambassador, Jack Alford and his consort, Myah.

In an exciting development, the site’s online shop has been extended, so as well as the usual merchandise like wristbands and car stickers (very reasonably priced), you’ll see there’s also a link to us, so you can order your very own greyhound Union Jack fleece coat. Arriving shortly will also be a very funky GBGW Limited Edition Walking Out Coat – I managed to find some absolutely fabulous fabric and this will be added to the online shop in the next few days. Every coat sold through the GBGW shop will attract a donation to the charity’s funds, of £5 per coat. If you fancy a wonderful collar for the walk, Meggie Moo has a similar set up in the shop.

Although it’s still only February, we are working with show organisers to put together our programme for going out on tour over the summer months. We already have some dates to add to the diary, and if you are attending any of these, we’d love to say hello.

  • May 3rd - West Somerset Whippet Racing Club Annual Dog Show at Taunton Polo Club, Somerset
  • May 24th – Retired Greyhound Trust Greyhound Extravaganza, Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, Suffolk
  • August 9th – Greyhound Rescue Wales Dog Show and Summer Fayre, Hillside Sanctuary, near Ammanford.

We also add all confirmed shows to the front page of our website, and if there is a website link to the event, we will always share it. If you’d like us to attend your event, drop us an email.

Finally, those new fleece coats! We have three, and they are gorgeous. Firstly, we have a lovely Navy Spot. This one is strictly a limited edition, as I was only able to get one roll of the fabric. It’s an elegant micro-fleece, with a soft, velvety pile, in a dark navy with a crisp white spot. As you’d expect, it looks great on a black dog but I was really surprised at how nice it looked on Sara who’s a brindle.

Secondly, there’s a Teal spot – this one is going to fly out of the door. It’s a beautiful colour but photographing it was tricky as it’s one of those colours that often appears slightly different on camera. We’ve given it a fabulous red lining which makes the most amazing contrast and looks gorgeous. If you like it and are unsure about the colour, we can supply a free swatch.

Thirdly, we have an elegant and understated French Navy with Charcoal trim. This is one of those very grown up, sophisticated colour combinations that won’t shout but just exudes style. I can see this being very popular with the boys, and it looks amazing on a black hound. All the coats are now up on the website – why not see which one you prefer?

I’ve also ordered some stunning cotton fabrics for bandanas and walking out coats for the new season – I’ll be saying more about those in my next email when we have some samples made up and photographs taken.
