The Boot Bag has Landed... and Don't Forget Perry Barr Dog Show!

bag for bootsIt’s been a long time coming, but I’m delighted to say our new Boot Bag is now in stock, and available from the website. We will also have these with us on our stall at the Perry Barr Greyhound Show on 11th October, if you want to come along and have a closer look.

The genesis for these came about on long winter walks – whenever we returned to the car, we always seemed to have a pile of damp, muddy, soggy socks, gloves and boots to deal with. I began to play with some ideas, and I’m incredibly grateful to a dear friend of mine, who works with horses and has two lurchers. She tested a couple of the early prototypes and we’ve improved each version after her very practical feedback.

The bag is made from our sturdy ripstop – waterproof and wipe-clean, lightweight and very strong. On the top is a heavy duty zip, and one of the things we’ve added is a zipper pull, so when your fingers are wet and cold, it’s still easy to fasten.

On the front is a Velcro-fastened, gusseted pocket, which is just the right size for a pair of wet socks or gloves. The pocket has a mesh insert, so you can see what’s inside. I took ages to find a good mesh but eventually I found the perfect material. It’s used in marine sports and military applications, and is quick drying, very strong, non-fraying, UV resistant, salt water resistant, abrasion resistant and has a high tear strength and a high tensile strength. Even better, it’s made in the UK.

We’ve made the bag big enough to cope with a man’s pair of wellies (Andrew is a size 11, and they fit inside easily), and there’s plenty of additional room if you need to stuff in a few wet coats, towels etc. On the side is a handy loop for hanging.

boot bag in multicoloured starsI can also see these being very practical if you have horses as well as dogs – basically any activity when you will need to move or store wet or dirty kit. Initially, we’ve made them in two colourways – Multicoloured Star, which you’ll recognise from our greyhound raincoats, plus a cheerful Cerise Blossom floral, which makes a super contrast with the turquoise mesh and is really eye-catching.

As an introductory price, these will be on sale on the website for £15 until the evening of the 11th October (so you can take advantage of this price if you are planning on coming to the Perry Barr show). After that, they will be going up to their regular price of £18.

I’ve mentioned the Perry Barr Dog Show a few times already, and I just want to say a bit more about it. The show is held indoors at Solihull Riding Club so it’s not dependent on the weather, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best organised events we attend every year. There are four rings of amazing classes, which run like clockwork, plus lots of other attractions including a great range of trade stalls, catering, tombola, nail cutting, etc. The class list is now published, and there really is something for everyone. Callie is hoping to enter the Gummy Greyhounds class and Sara has her eye on the 11+ class for greyhounds. The show is a great day out and there’s plenty of space in the venue (the arena is huge!) so it’s great if your hound is not a fan of crowds. We’ll also be showcasing our new Christmas bandanas at the show, as well as bringing a full range of coats.
