Our Next Online Dog Show

online dog show rosettes from milgi coatsLate August and I’ve carried out a special job. I drove down to sunny Port Talbot to see Heather at Celebration Rosettes, with a list of our requirements for our next online dog show. As in previous years, this will be taking place in January, to brighten up a dreary time of the year. It’s something we really look forward to and every year I make a few tweaks to improve it. Last year we had over 200 entries and we had a very difficult job judging so many gorgeous hounds. Getting on top of the rosette order is an important job ticked off my list while things are a little quieter before we get into the busiest period of the year for us. I’m also looking at trophies for the show at the moment.

Heather is an absolute master of rosettes (she’s been making them for over 25 years) and I really enjoy discussing with her our choice of colour, shape etc. After we had a happy time looking at some fabulous ribbons, we’ve gone for a really funky colour way and a repeat of last year’s oval shape. This year we are introducing a new class – for Galgos and Podencos. We know from our customers that many people have adopted these very special hounds and there are many greyhound owners in the UK who are very supportive of the excellent work being done in Spain by the various rescues who work with the Galgos. So, our classes will be:

  • Festive Frolics - your Christmas Coats and Bandanas
  • Bandana Bonanza - any pictures of your hound wearing a bandana
  • Golden Oldie - for hounds aged 8 and above
  • Long Tailed Lovelies - any picture of your hound wearing any of our coats or lying on any of our dog beds
  • Hola Galgo! – specially for Galgos and Podencos

We’ve also introduced some new special rosettes:

  • Best Tripod
  • Oldest Dog in show
  • Most Entries submitted
  • Voyager - entry from the furthest away

As in previous years, there will also be lovely prizes for our class winners and most importantly, the Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show will each have a chance to nominate their favourite rescue to receive a donation. We will also invite the winner of the Galgo class to nominate a galgo rescue to receive a donation. As well as the class rosettes, there will be lots of Specials and the Best in Show, Reserve BIS and Golden Oldie winners will have some beautiful and blingtastic rosettes to enjoy. The classes are free to enter for all our customers. An early reminder will hopefully help you to remember to take lots of pictures of your hounds. The show will open on Saturday 2nd January 2016 and will close on Friday 22nd January with judging taking place on Saturday 23rd January.

We’ll give more reminders and updates as we get closer to the show, and we’ll put info out on our website and via our Facebook page. As in previous years, once the show is under way, we’ll be displaying the entries in albums on our Facebook page and in our online gallery.

Let’s hope this show is even bigger and more successful than the last one - I can’t wait!
