Hope you had a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend

Jed and CJ - Best in Show Winner 2014

I just wanted to tell you about last Thursday afternoon. I travelled down to Port Talbot to meet up with Heather of Celebration Rosettes, a small local business who’ve been supplying rosettes for over twenty years. I first came across them when ordering rosettes for an event for Greyhound Rescue Wales, and have used them many times since. Heather’s workshop is a marvellous Aladdin’s Cave of gorgeous colours, textures, printed designs and every imaginable shape and size of ribbon, all transformed into beautiful, eye-catching rosettes.

The reason for my visit was that in January, we’ll once again be holding our Annual Online Dog Show for our Milgi customers. It’s a free event that we started to brighten up the gloomy days after Christmas, and next year will be our third event. Each time we’ve run it, it’s grown bigger and better, and next year will be no exception.  Because the run-up to Christmas is our busiest time of the year, I wanted to get a head start on some of the planning.Heather helped guide me through some of the choices – number of tiers, shape, size, colours, text. She showed me lots of gorgeous ribbons and some made up rosettes to give me ideas, and we ended up with what I think will be some stunning choices. Milgi purple will of course feature heavily.

There’ll be four classes: Festive Frolics, Longtailed Lovelies, Bandana Bonanza, and Golden Oldies

Plus some show stopping rosettes for Best In Show, Reserve Best in Show and Golden Oldie (my favourite category). Each class will have rosettes for 1st to 6th place, plus an assortment of Specials.  As in previous years, there will also be some generous prizes, plus of course donations to the winner’s chosen rescue organisation. Last year, Hounds First Rescue were nominated by the winner and we were delighted to be able to give them a donation.

So, if you’re out and about in your Milgi gear, it’s worth capturing a few pics and I hope you’ll take part in January. Judging the show is probably one of the highlights of our year – usually fuelled by home-made cake, and each year we are bowled over by the gorgeous hounds (and other creatures!) who take part.

You can see last year's winners on our Facebook Gallery.
